Last night, as Sean and I were watching Ghost Hunters International on SciFi, we heard a strange little noise. It stopped quickly, so we both dismissed it and returned to watching the ghost hunting. A minute or two later, we heard it again. This time, we hit the mute button and started listening intently.
The noise sounded like... scurrying. And the noise was moving around... in the ceiling.
Commence the extreme feelings of grossed-outedness. We promptly went around the house, making sure all the vents had covers and that there wasn't any food left out. Then we e-mailed our landlord.
This morning, the landlord replied and said, "Oh, yeah, we had three critters in our house yesterday too. I'll call an exterminator. This has happened before when it gets hot outside."
Ewww, really?
I guess it's all part of being in an old house, but... I really don't want to encounter any "critters" when I walk around my home. I admit to walking around with a broom this morning while I was getting ready for work, just in case.
Maybe I'm a big pansy, but I just can't stomach the idea of little rat feet pattering above my head. Hopefully the exterminator will figure something out this afternoon. Gross.
